Lisbon Restaurant Guide - Good Value Great Food
A tasty dish of charcoaled grilled fish will cost around 7 Euros in most restaurants.
An Everyday Lisbon Restaurant will be full especially at lunch time with budget diners who know a good meal need not break the bank. It is easy to eat well in Lisbon on a budget. For under thirty Euros two people can have a really good three course meal with wine and coffee. For 7 Euros you can have a dish of the day and a beer in a moderate Lisbon Restaurant. 3 Euros buys a toasted sandwich and a mineral water in an average Lisbon Cafe.
Cafe in Portas da Sol. Snacks ordered here are freshly made across the road. Toasted sandwiches are large and tasty with a mineral water just over 3 euros. Service can be bit slow but the view is wonderful.

Soajeiro Rua Merca Todo Conde BaraoOne of the best of all Lisbon Restaurants in a small alley full of good places off Avenida Dom Carlos between Conde Barao and Santos - our first choice for lunch. The Madeiran family specializes in fantastic spit grilled beef and charcoal grilled fish - Always busy ! Casa do India Calcada do Chombo near Chiado Always busy with great lunchtime dishes. The soup and fish are really great. Black Pig is also recommended. Bom Jardin In the alley behind Rossio near the National Theater.Family run grilled chicken restaurant. Good budget Lisbon Restaurant a central option and great value for families. A Licorista - O Bacalhoeira, in Rua Sapateiros in The Baixa is an award winning restaurant with a local clientelle. It is just beyond the arch in Rossio opposite the oldest cinema in Lisbon, sadly now showing sleazy stuff. Don't be put off, this is an atmospheric area with plenty of good places to eat. Licorista has nice pictures of old Lisbon on display and great rice dishes, fish and Bachalao. The sweets are good too. A good bet in downtown Lisbon. Picanha. Janelas Verdes, Belem Grilled Meat with rice, chips and beans. Simple and tasty especially with a good red wine. Now also near the park in Belem. Good for determined meat-eaters looking for an alternative to grilled fish. Not expensive but more than most. Portugalia. Almirante Reis, Cais Sodre, Belem etc A reliable Lisbon Restaurant institution and now a chain. We think it's a bit expensive because the dishes are smaller than average but the food is fine and the restaurants are clean and well designed. Dishes are cheapish but portions small and a bit formulaic. The seafood is more expensive. A fallback choice when legs are tired.

RamiroIntendente near Martim Moniz - Great value seafood in this most popular of all Lisbon Cervejarias. Always busy, be prepared to wait. The prawns are amazing! Everyone finishes with a steak sandwich. Drink beer rather than wine here, like the locals!It is cheap if you choose wisely and don't pile up the plates.It is also a great place to splurge when you have a few spare euros. Cascais Remo in Praca Alegria off Avenida Liberdade. Busy Lisbon Restaurant - full of local police from the station in the square! Soup is great and the Porco Preto is very tasty. Rodas at Rato - Busy grill in bustling Rato quarter. Workers flock to several reasonable lunchtime restaurants here, we always seem to end up in Rodas as the menu is always good. Plan Alto in Largo Sao Sebastiao de Pedra - Lisbon Restaurant in a beautiful area not far from the Court Ingles department store near Pombal. Fantastic value, varied dishes and house deserts. Desejo next door is also good. Toma-La-Da-Ca Near Elevador Bica in Travessa do Sequero. A good cheapish restaurants with a certain class. the food is good, the atmosphere a little trendy - you can't go wrong with Portuguese dishes. We found the more cosmopolitan choices less good. San Antonio - Rua das Bachaleiros a place for fish just off the tourist trail between Baixa and lower Alfama. Nearby Campo de Cebollas also has a reasonable grill restaurant popular with tourists enjoying outdoor dining. Campo Matires de Patria - Garden cafe with better than average house fast food and dishes. High above Avenida Liberdad - Go up on forgotten Elevedor de Lavra! One of Lisbon's secrets and great for Families with Cheap Lisbon travel card. Cabaca and Floresta - Rua Cidade de Horta Estafania near Saldanha. If you want to eat well on a really tight budget try these places just north of Pombal - Authentic Lisbon atmosphere No frills, bustling and fun plus tasty and plenty Portuguese food.
Oeiras Marina has several reasonable Restaurants. Peters is the most stylish.
Out to the Coast
Lisbon-Restaurants By the beach - These can be expensive but there are several places you can't go wrong with!Inatel Cafe and Restaurant - Near Oeiras Marina - walk,jog or skate West along sea path from St Amaro Train Station! Self service with fantastic sea views. Great for families! Nearby great beaches, swimming pools with diving boards and bike hire.Peters - Oeiras Marina A trendy Lisbon restaurant with origins in the Acores, now established right beside the small port near lovely beaches. Day time specials are 7,50 euros. Art adorns the walls and big windows open to great views. Dom Manuel at Caxias - Get out to the beach and head to this good reasonable restaurant in the village behind Caxias Train Staion! Lunchtime specials are good value or choose from the more expensive fish selection. Our favourite place for seafood is 45 minutes form Lisbon at Sesimbra. Praia Mar specialises in crab and lobster and has a series of mixed seafood dishes to suit all budgets. For less than 35 euros for two you can eat like kings.It is in the second line to the beach on the east side of town.Rua D Afonso Henriques 16. Sesimbra is lovely beach resort a good day out from Lisbon and it is worth the journey for the food alone. See our
